Ronald McDonald House of Kentuckiana (RMHCK) began in 1984 as a way to support families who had children being treated at the area hospitals. The idea for RMHCK began with Jef Conner and Hunt Rounsavall, whose infant daughter Christine was undergoing treatment for a rare cancer at the nearby children’s hospital. After three years of fundraising and campaigning, RMHCK began with 19 guestrooms, and after 40 years, it has expanded nearly three-fold to 56 guestrooms. Through it all, its mission has stayed the same: to provide the home and support that allows families to stay together while they focus on the healing of their sick children at a critical time.
