What is DoGood’s Mission?

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?”

—Martin Luther King, Jr.

What We Do

Having participated in NACs for most of my fencing career, I noticed that there was very little engagement between the thousands of fencers participating in the competition and the local community in the city hosting the competition. Mostly, fencers went to the venue to fence or watch fencing, stayed in their rooms at the hotel, or ate at a local restaurant.

What were we doing to make a positive impact in these communities that we were visiting? Not much.

DoGood aims to change that.

We reach out to local organizations in the host cities to identify how we can serve these communities. We coordinate with these local organizations to set up group volunteer events that typically take one to two hours. In this way, fencers now have the opportunity to do something meaningful for the communities that they are briefly a part of, something that will strengthen that community and have a lasting positive impact.

What Are Our Goals

Our goal is simple: to provide fencers with opportunities to do good in the local communities that we are visiting for competitions.

We want to encourage fencers to “Do Good Anywhere!'“

In this way, it is our hope that lives will be changed, people will be inspired, and communities will be strengthened.
